Rig count in the US still on the decline while Canadian count ticks up again

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending September 27, the US rig count decreased by 17 to 1,744, compared to a seven-rig decline the previous week.  The rig count was also down 104 from 1,848 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count decrease by seven to 1,362 while the gas rig count dropped by 10 to 376.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased again in the week ending September 27 by two to reach 390, following an eight-rig increase the week before.  The Canadian rig count was up 31 from 359 rigs during the same week a year ago.
