Jiangsu Good Harvest-Weien plans to make its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gansu Yinglong to be responsible for building a new production base in Yindong Chemical Park, Baiyin City High-tech Industrial Park, Gansu Province, and forming the production capacities of pesticide intermediates such as 4,000 t/a phenylhydrazine, 4,000 t/a 4-chlorophenylhydrazine, 5,000 t/a special nitrile (n-butyronitrile, isobutyronitrile and valeronitrile) and 4,000 t/a 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-hydroxy-1-h-pyrazole. The new base will undertake more production tasks in the future.

Wuhan Kernel's agricultural biological fermentation project (Phase I) has been completed in Xiantao City, Hubei Province, where a total of 4 120-tonne fermentors have been built for the cultivation of BT, BS and other microorganisms and the production of their metabolites.

Xingyu Chemical, 53.17% held by Zhejiang Wynca, intended to build a large-scale production scale of quizalofop-P-ethyl TC, quizalofop-P-tefury TC, penoxsulam TC, bentazone TC, metamifop TC, fenoxaprop-P-ethyl TC, nicosulfuron TC, fluroxypyr-mepthyl TC, 2,6-Dichloroquinoxaline, 2-mercapto-6-chlorobenzoxazole, and many other pesticide TC and intermediate products at its new plant. This bodes that Zhejiang Wynca aimed to increase the capacity of other herbicide varieties to complement its glyphosate TC production.

The Early Warning and Prevention and Control Center of Agricultural Harmful Organism of Guangdong Province announced in mid-March that there will be slightly serious occurrences of vegetable pests and diseases in spring in the province. It is forecasted that slightly serious occurrence of Phyllotreta striolata Fabricius will be seen generally, but heavy occurrence will be seen in some areas; diamondback moth, palm thrips, spodoptera litura and downy mildew will be at slightly serious level; Bactrocera cucurbitae, vegetable leafminer and powdery mildew will be at moderate level as a whole but slightly serious in some areas; maruca vitrata, beet armyworm, bemisia tabaci, soft rot and anthrax will be at moderate level. Besides, different levels of aphid, gray mold and virus disease will be witnessed. Crop protection departments at all levels are required to conduct on-site investigations in fields, strengthen monitoring and research on vegetable pests and diseases, release early-warning and forecast in a timely manner and guiade the vegetable farmers to launch preventive measures according to different conditions. In addition, green preventive measures should be promoted vigorously. To be more detailed, appropriate pesticides and biopesticids of high efficiency, low toxicity and low risk should be applied on the fields when needed, so as to reduce losses, reduce use of pesticides and realize green prevention and control.

Local governments issued plans to prevent crop pests and ensure crop harvest successively in spring. Specifically, on 25 Feb., the Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau of Fujian Province released the 2021 Fujian Provincial Action Plan to Protect Crop Grains from Being Attacked by Pest. On 1 March, the Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau of Heilongjiang Province formulated and issued the Guidance on Prevention and Control of Major Crop Pests, Weeds and Diseases and Rodent of Heilongjiang Province in 2021. The next day, the Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau of Guangdong Province released the 2021 Guangdong Provincial Action Plan to Protect Crop Grains from Being Attacked by Pest. On 9 March, the National Agro-Tech Extension and Service Center (NATESC) issued the Technical Guidance on Prevention and Control of Major Pests and Diseases on Crops Such as Rice.

On March 16, 2021, the Department of Seed Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs publicized the main crop varieties approved by Anhui Province in 2021. A total of 222 varieties were approved, including 158 rice varieties, 47 corn varieties, 13 soybean varieties and 4 cotton varieties.

On 26 Feb., a batch of precious rice seeds, Hangju Xiangsimiao, was sown in the laboratory and test fields of SCAU. Weighing up to 40g, they are high-quality progenies of space breeding variety — Huahang No. 31. On 17 Dec., 2020, they landed successfully along with Chang'e-5's returner, after a space journey of 22 days 21 hours and 29 mins, which is another milestone in China's development of breeding.
