In 2018, the MOA will continue taking its responsibilities to carry out spring special check into the agricultural crop seed market and special treatment of regional illegal behaviors. Specifically, it will check corn, rice, cotton and vegetable seeds and imported seeds, targeting seed labeling, implementation of seed variety registration system, filing of business entity and seed quality. Regarding the special treatment, Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces will focus on the illegal sales of genetically modified corn seeds, the border areas of Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Hubei and Anhui provinces will deal with production and sales of counterfeit and inferior corn seeds mainly, the border areas of Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and Chongqing and the border areas of Hubei, Jiangsu, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces will check the production and sales of counterfeit and inferior rice seeds mainly. Based on the principles namely no blind areas in the border areas, joint administration, specific treatment and joint fighting & joint action, the border areas will be checked in an all-round way to fight against unlicensed production and sales, fake brands and infringement, and production and sales of counterfeit products.
