On 15 March, 2019, Yunnan Energy announced to invest USD164.28 million (RMB1.1 billion) for its subsidiary Zhuhai Energy to build the Li-ion battery separator project (phase II) in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. The project plans to build four fully automatic imported separator production lines, with the main product of wet-process basilemma.

In response to the shrinking market caused by reduced subsidy in 2020, Chen Hong, chairman of SAIC Motor, suggested that the focus of AEV subsidy policy could shift from current "purchase subsidy" to "combined subsidy".

In 2018, the total discard amount of power battery reached 74,000 tonnes, and that of digital battery reached 167,000 tonnes. However, the recycling amount of power battery only accounted for 7.4% of the discard amount, and that of digital battery accounted for 63.6%, all below the expectations.
