Feb. 2016 saw significant decrease in the domestic threonine price, which was mainly a result of the weak demand, depressing livestock market and continually falling corn price. Given that demand is unlikely to recover in the short term, the threonine price may continue to stay low.

In 2016, China's exports of lysine ester & salt, methionine and cystine all increased, thanks to decreased export prices, improved domestic supply and increased overseas demand.

In Feb. 2017, China's lysine price contnued to fall after hitting unusually high in late 2016, mainly affected by the weak demand and depressing livestock & poultry market. Given the continual drops in corn price, the lysine price may slide further in the short term.

Feb. 2017 saw a conyinual decrease in methionine price, mainly as a result of the flat sales after the Spring Festivl and outbreaks of H7N9 avian influenza. As new methionine projects are put into operation in succession and imports resume, the domestic methionine market is expected to face intensified competition, and may go into the era of price lows.

CJ Group has finally reached a settlement with Ningxia EPPEN over a patent infringement lawsuit. In the past three years, both companies respectively explored the possibility of mergers with Meihua Bio, but both failed in the end.

Fufeng Group issued the forecast of 2016 financial performance, which said that its net profit would rise by 80% YoY, mainly thanks to the falling corn price and the changed production line from xanthan gum to premium amino acid. It is predicted that the company's income will further increase in H1 2017 due to corn deep processing subsidy.

Currently, the substitution between soybean meal and lysine becomes less profitable as their price gap expands, which may boost future demand for lysine.
