Qianjiang Yong'an will pay USD4.38 million (RMB30 million) to buy 20% of the shares in Zhejiang Shuangzi, a company producing intelligent equipment. Upon completion of this transaction, Qianjiang Yong'an will become a new shareholder in Zhejiang Shuangzi.

In the last quarter of 2018, China's export volume of methionine greatly decreased by 42.19% MoM to 4,836.065 tonnes, due to the additional tariffs the US started to impose on Chinese methionine in Sept. and the smaller domestic supply. Since the major methionine producers have resumed production and the rebate rate has increased, CCM predicts that methionine export volume will keep rising slightly in the short run.

Tryptophan price showed a downward trend in 2018. In Dec., it hit a two-year low of USD8,761.43/t (RMB60,000/t). The price kept falling in Jan. 2019 with a MoM decrease rate of 6.67%. CCM predicts that the trend will possibly continue in the short term.

In Jan., African swine fever continues to spread in China with the addition of four cases in Heilongjiang, Gansu, and Ningxia. It is the first time that the virus has been reported in Gansu and Ningxia. Influenced by the outbreaks of the virus, multiple listed enterprises like Guangdong Wens, Muyuan, and Jiangxi Zhengbang expect a decline in net profits.

Recently Sichuan Hebang announced its decision to change the way of using the capital it raised for the PAN-based carbon fibre project in 2015. It will no longer invest in this project given low profits of it, so the money left has to be used in other way.

Anhui Fubang has recently been approved by the local planning bureau to build a total of ten buildings at its factory, for the production of 2,000 t/a of L-cysteine hydrochloride (used as food additives). Some other kinds of amino acids will be by-produced.

Chinese authorities have lowered the tariffs on amino acids from some countries, but only a small number of lysine was imported from only two of these countries. Given this, the tariff cuts have a limited impact on China's import of amino acids.
