Recently, the NATESC released brief analysis of China's supply and demand for major crop seeds in 2018. According to the report, the planting area and output of hybrid corn seeds substantially dropped in 2017, while the output of hybrid rice seeds remained stable. In 2018, the overcapacity of spring and summer hybrid corn seeds is likely to be alleviated but that of hybrid rice seeds will become severer.

On 24 Oct., 2017, Chongqing Banghao set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in Yunnan Province to exploit local seed market. Through stock issues, Chongqing Banghao has raised funds to purchase variety rights of high-quality corn seeds which are suitable to be grown in Yunnan Province.
