In Sept., 2019, China's import volume of corn seed totaled 208 kg, and import value stood at USD1,404, up as much as 4,060% and 320.36%, respectively. But China's corn seed export remained zero.

China's export volume of vegetable seed totaled 190,802 kg, and export value stood at USD5,047,436, up by 62.00% and 36.86% MoM, respectively. Its import volume and import value of vegetable seed increased by 56.52% and 27.59% MoM, respectively.

At the beginning of Nov., an on-site observation on the low-breakage mechanised corn kernel harvesting technology under the National Major Research Project on Corn Breeding was held in Luohe City, Henan Province. A series of corn varieties suitable for mechanized harvesting, advanced harvesters, drying technologies has been displayed during the event.

On the evening of 5 Nov., Longping Hi-Tech announced that a total of 140 new varieties bred by Longping Hi-Tech and its subsidiaries or jointly bred with other partners have passed the national examination and approval, including 106 rice varieties, 33 corn varieties, and 1 cotton variety.

In early Nov., Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, MOA held a seminar on High-Quality and High-Efficiency Management of Grain and Oil Crops, and on corn-soybean strip intercropping in Meishan City, Sichuan Province. At the Seminar, the participants had an on-site observation of the demonstration of corn-soybean strip intercropping, exchanged lessons in this year's high-quality and high-efficiency management, and learned from experts about the key technologies and supporting measures for corn-soybean strip intercropping.

On Nov. 6, the China Grain Information Center released the Monthly Report on Supply and Demand of Food Grain, the Monthly Report on Supply and Demand of the Feed Grain, and the Monthly Report on Supply and Demand of Oils and Oil Seeds, and made a forecast of the overall supply and demand of the major grain and oil crops in 2019–2020.

According to the Agricultural and Rural Department of Henan Province, the wheat planting area in the province continues to be stable at above 5.67 million ha (85 million mu) in 2019. The planting field is well-sown, with seedlings healthy and evenly-spaced.

On 29 Oct., 2019, the 3rd Seminar on Seed Value Enhancement was held in Jinan Province. The Seminar was attended by over 300 people, including the president, vice president and secretary general of the Seed Coating Branch of China Seed Association (CNSA), and representatives from the seed industry. The vice president of CNSA and three experts delivered speeches at the Seminar.

At the beginning of Nov., an on-site observation of the Project on High Yield and Efficiency through Technological Innovation, was held in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, which showcased the outcomes in corn machinery harvesting. The project is led by the Crop Science Research Institute of CAAS in accordance with China's 13th Five Year Plan.

1 Nov. saw a busy scene in the corn demonstration base in Chiwo Village, Ma'an Town, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, which hosts the Project on Corn Variety Breeding for South and Southwest China, a national funded project.
