Zhejiang NHU has recently disclosed that a biological fermentation project undertaken by its wholly-owned subsidiary would be put into production in the second half of this year, including capacity of 60,000 t/a of 70% sorbitol. This project will make it China's second largest producer of sorbitol.

In 2018, CCGB had increases both in revenue (9.98% YoY) and net profit (10% YoY), whereas its rival, Guilin Layn, saw declines. Guilin Layn's revenue was down by 22.68% YoY and net profit decreased by 59.51% YoY.

A total of 7.38 million tonnes of sugar was produced in China in the 2018/19 extracting season as of late Feb., an increase of 0.14% YoY; about 3.38 million tonnes were sold, up by 12.75% YoY. The sales/production ratio also increased by 5.12 percentage points to 45.81%.
