Recently, Baolingbao declared that it is planning to build a resistant dextrin project using some of the fund raised before. After the project is put into production, Baolingbao will have estimated sales of USD18.72 million (RMB130 million) per year, on average.

In mid-Dec., the working conference of Hainan Province concerning the production and sale of cane sugar in the new 2018/19 extracting season was convened in Haikou City, Hainan Province. It is predicted that the production of both sugarcane and sugar will keep rising in the new season.

Recently, Qufu Shengren was approved to start construction of its 600 t/a stevioside deep-processing technological upgrading project; upon the completion of the project, the company will be able to produce 700 t/a of high-A3 stevioside. Another company, Gerun Pharmaceutical, will put into production its 2,000 t/a stevioside project soon.

On 16 Dec., COFCO Food Technology started to invite bids for the decoration of the lab of its fructose-glucose syrup project. The project is scheduled to be finished next Jan. with a total investment of USD32.35 million (RMB224.58 million).

This year saw significant rises in the price of acesulfame-K. By month, the figure was USD7,201.39/t (RMB50,000/t) in Jan., up by 4.17% YoY and 4.17% MoM; during Feb.–March, prices stabilised around USD7,201.39/t (RMB50,000/t); in April, the price reached USD7,633.48/t (RMB53,000/t), up by 10.42% YoY and 6% MoM; in May-Nov., it stayed high. In the short run, high prices are expected to continue, based on increasing demand but unchanged supply.

Xiwang Group now plans to increase its corn fructose production capacity by 500,000 tonnes per year within five years. In addition, it has reached partnership with the ASAG to build the National Corn Deep-processing Industrial Technology Innovation Center, which is expected to be another source of innovative corn development technologies.

In the new 2018/19 extracting season, 296,300 tonnes of beet sugar were produced and 111,800 tonnes sold in Xinjiang as of late Nov.; in Inner Mongolia, another beet sugar producing area, production and sales were 310,000 tonnes and 150,000 tonnes, respectively. In Hainan, sales/production ratio reached 80.99%; in Yunnan, production was 6,015 tonnes, and the third-party inventory was estimated at 140,000 tonnes; in Guangxi, the sale of new sugar was optimistic.
