Hot spots in China's sorbitol market China's sorbitol business has built its competitiveness in production capacity. At the end of Dec. 2017, Northeast Pharm announced the signing of a Strategic Cooperation Agreement Framework with Jinxiang Biochemical, a move intended to carry out construction including a 100,000 t/a sorbitol production line. Later, in mid-Jan. 2018, NHC showed its intention to construct NHC Heilongjiang Bio-fermentation Industrial Park (including a sorbitol production line as well).

In early Jan. 2018, Nanning Sugar announced that its total loans increased by USD185.21 million (RMB1.21 billion) in 2017, accounting for more than 75.53% of its nets assets at the end of 2016. Additionally, in Mid Dec. 2017, it declared a private placement targeting Nanning Industrial Investment and Guangxi Rural Investment to raise no more than USD138.29million (RMB900 million) in total.

In early Dec. 2017, Inner Mongolia Sunray was reported to invest USD680 million (RMB4.40 billion) in a sodium gluconate project in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, thereby increasing the market supply in the future. Later, in the same month, the US Department of Commerce initiated an anti-dumping & anti-subsidy investigation on Chinese sodium gluconate and derivative products, which will certainly hinder their exports.
