A meeting was held by the Leading Group for Safety and Environmental Protection Improvement of Chemical Industry of Jiangsu Province on 15 April, aiming at deploying key missions and measures for further promoting safety and environmental protection rectification and improvement of chemical industry in Jiangsu Province as well as advancing rectification of safety production in chemical field.

Maxunitech plans to make Sichuan Orlando, its new wholly-owned subsidiary established in Nanchong Economic Development Zone, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, to be responsible for the construction of a 3,000 t/a sulfentrazone TC production line. Notably, another subsidiary of Maxunitech, namely Oriental (Luzhou) Agrochemical Co., Ltd., has owned the capacity of 200 t/a sulfentrazone TC. Maxunitech's supply capacity of sulfentrazone TC will be greatly enhanced once this 3,000 t/a sulfentrazone TC production line goes into operation officially.

The policy of lockdown has been carried out in India since 25 Mach, in order to contain the spreading of COVID-19. India is the fourth biggest agrochemical producer of the world, thus the continued lockdown will cause impact on the supply chains of related pesticides. In recent years, India's capacity of 2,4-D has been growing. The long-term implementation of lockdown will tighten the supply of the product and at an end push up the price, but will benefits China's producers of 2,4-D.

By 24 April, there have been over 2.6 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the globe. Although the disease in China has been under control after months of efforts, it is still uncertain when the inflection point will come from the prospective of global pandemic situation. Shortage of labor force and suspension of production resulting from COVID-19 outbreak hit the global export trade. China's pesticide export is also influenced but the pandemic is beneficial to China's pesticide industry to certain extent.

A fire broke out in a pesticide factory of Tagros, an India pesticide producer, on 7 April, and destroyed the whole factory. Tagros is one of the major suppliers of sulfentrazone TC across the globe, and this factory was responsible for production of sulfentrazone TC. Therefore the fire will bring about impact to the overall supply of sulfentrazone TC in the world and will be beneficial for China to expand the international market share of sulfentrazone TC.

The epidemic of COVID-19 has brought about certain impact to export of paraquat which is an export-oriented pesticide. As for production, some paraquat producers are located in Hubei province where was affected most, therefore output of parauat decreased. As for export, export volume of paraquat declined sharply in Feb., 2020, due to the implementations of traffic control and epidemic control measures.

The 1,000 t/a oxadiazon TC project invested by Hunan Xingtong after taking over the overall assets of a bankrupted company called Hunan Bohan, has passed the environmental protecting acceptance check, which will do good to the development of Hunan Xingtong's oxadiazon business. The construction contents of the project include rectifying and upgrading the existing old production line of 400 t/a oxadiazon TC and its supporting facilities ran by Hunan Bohan as well as building a new production line of 600 t/a oxadiazon TC, in accordance with the original plan of Hunan Bohan and the new environmental protection policy in China.

India has launched a lockdown for 21 days to contain the epidemic of COVID-19 since the end of March, during which the outputs of pesticide in companies within the country are restricted, and the major producers of pendimethalin have been suspended, driving up the price of pendimethalin TC in China.

China's pesticide export had been influenced by the COVID-19 epidemic to certain extent in Feb., 2020. A significant drop was seen in the export volume of atrazine in Feb., 2020, but the export price of atrazine remained stable, compared with that in Jan.

China's export of acetochlor TC and formulation products in Feb., 2020 both showed significant YoY decreases, especially that of acetochlor formulation. As for price, dual YoY declines were seen in the export prices of acetochlor TC and formulation products.

According to the year's second group of pesticides to be approved for registration released by ICAMA, Anhui Yuanjing will gain registration certificate of another halosulfuron-methyl product, which is halosulfuron-methyl 12% OF. At present, Anhui Yuanjing has owned 3 registration certificates for 3 halosulfuron-methyl products that are still valid.
