In late-May, prices of triazine herbicides in China are stable with slight decline; prices of sulfonylurea herbicides maintain stable; prices of some amide herbicides increase due to limited output.

In early 2020, China's export of paraquat was not optimistic, affected by the outbreak of COVID-19. However, when the disease was under control in March with increasing operating rates of paraquat producers and growing overseas demand, China witness a significant rise in export of paraquat in March, 2020, showing that paraquat export has been turning better.

On 13 May, Dongzhi Ecological Branch publicized Feihaoda Chemical's Environment Impact Assessment Report for 1,700 t/a TC and 900 t/a Pesticide Formulation Technical Upgrading Project (Exposure Draft), according to which, Feihaoda Chemical plans to launch technical improvement on the production facilities of oxyfluorfen and diflufenican.

India's Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers' Welfare issued the Order to Ban Pesticides (Draft) (2020) on 14 May, stipulating that import, production, sale, transportation, distribution and application of the listed pesticides are not allowed since the issuance of the official order. 27 pesticides including 7 herbicides are planned to be forbidden such as atrazine, butachlor, 2,4-D, diuron, oxyfluorfen, pendimethalin and sulfosulfuron. Related agrochemical companies in China may be benefited, if India ceases to be producers of pesticides mentioned above.

Construction of 20,000 t/a pesticide intermediate project (phase I) invested by Inner Mongolia Keshuo has been completed, including production lines of 2,000 t/a 2-Methylsulfonyl-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine, 800 t/a N-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-hydroxy-N-isopropylacetamide and 1,000 t/a 2-mesyl-5-(trifluoromethyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole.

China has witnessed a boom of registering pinoxaden products since pinoxaden's patent protection in China had expired in March, 2019. According to the year's third group of pesticides to be approved for registration, registrations of 3 pinoxaden products will be approved, such as pinoxaden 10% OF from Zhejiang Sega, isoproturon&middot;pinoxaden 32% OF and pinoxaden&middot;mesosulfuron-methyl 10% OF from Anhui Senfon.

Shandong Huimeng's 7,000 t/a 2,3-Dichloro-5-(trifluoromethyl) pyridine (DTCF) technical reform project and 6,000 t/a 2-Chloro-6-(trichlotomrthyl) pyridine (CTC) project situated in its production plant in Chengwu County Chemical Industrial Park have passed self-acceptance check of environmental protection, in accordance with related laws, which are milestones of these two projects. Additionally, Shandong Huimeng's new herbicide and intermediate project responsible by its wholly-owned subsidiary, namely Jiangmusi Heilong, is still under construction and has not yet put into production.

A foundation-stone laying ceremony was held by Inner Mongolia Nab for its 1,750 t/a green and high-efficiency herbicide TC project on 29 April in Wuda industrial Park. Constructions of production lines for nicosulfuron, imazethapyr and imazamox are included in the project. Therefore, Inner Mongolia will take part in the market competition of nicosulfuron, imazethapyr and imazamox.
