China increased 151 herbicide TC registrations in 2018, including 69 effective ingredients and 89 pesticide enterprises.

According to the import & export analytical data of CCM, export volumes of China's acetochlor TC and formulations both grew dramatically in Nov., in particular, the latter.

On 7 Jan., Jilin Lvsheng announced that environmental impact assessments of its 6,600 t/a herbicide TC project were approved by the Environmental Protection Bureau of Jilin City, Jilin Province in Dec. 2018. Construction will start subsequently. The project is aimed at diversifying Jilin Lvsheng's herbicide TC product portfolios and significantly expanding its relevant capacities.

Jiangsu Henglong intends to build a production project in the Yanchi Industrial Park of Gaotai County, Zhangye City, Gansu Province, and its new wholly-owned subsidiary Gansu Maiteng will be the undertaker. The project will include several pesticide intermediates production lines: 3,000 t/a CCMP, 3,000 t/a CCMT, 3,000 t/a HMBT, 1,000 t/a 3-methyl-4-nitroiminoperhydro-1,3,5-oxadiazine, and 1,000 t/a 4-Chloro-3',4'-dimethoxybenzophenone. Notably, this is another investment of Jiangsu Henglong in the west, after a full acquisition of the pesticide intermediate producer Ningxia Yadong.

On 14 Jan., Nanjing Red Sun announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Chongqing Huage intends to build biochemical glufosinate-ammonium and biochemical L-phosphinothricin circular economic industrial chains in Chongqing Municipality. The phase I project will start construction of a 20,000 t/a glufosinate-ammonium item and supporting engineering before late March 2019.

To adapt to stricter national environmental requests and more demanding emission limits, Dezhou Luba has increased several production lines of dursban, picloram, florasulam, penoxsulam, pyraclostrobin, and fluopicolide in the past two years. As well, it has improved its environmental facilities and administration.

Syngenta Nantong Crop Protection's diquat 200g/L AS will be expanded in usage scope to control weeds in non-till vegetable fields. This will be the first time that China has extended the registered application scope of diquat to the non-till vegetable weeds. Under this, diquat's use value will rise and its market shares will grow hopefully.

Ningxia YongNong, wholly owned by YONON, will build a 27,000 t/a efficient pesticide TC and intermediate project (7,000 t/a of methyldiethoxyphosphin and 20,000 t/a of glufosinate-ammonium TC) in the Fine Chemical Park, Ningdong Energy Chemical Base of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Upon completion of the project, YONON will consolidate its dominance in glufosinate-ammonium market and will hopefully become world-class producer and supplier.

Jiangsu Jiangu will soon complete construction of its 1,000 t/a 4-Fluoroaniline, 1,500 t/a 1,3-cyclohexanedione, 500 t/a 5-chloro-1-indanone and 8,900 t/a byproducts production line technological upgrading projects. As planned, the projects will undergo final equipment debugging and trial production in Q1 2019, and will start official manufacturing after the "three simultaneities" completion acceptance within 2019. Through this project, Jiangsu Jiangu will extend its business scope to pesticide intermediate sector.

Lianyungang SJ has included the 2,000 t/a sulfentrazone and 3,000 t/a flumioxazin projects in its Inner Mongolia Production Base, which will be undertaken by its wholly-owned subsidiary Inner Mongolia SJ, in one of its key plans in 2019.
