Executive Summary

In China, there are XXX active producers and XXX idle producers of potassium acetate in Feb. 2009. The total capacity is XXXt/a and the total output is XXX tonnes in 2008, including XXX tonnes exported.

At present, XXX is the largest potassium acetate producer. In China, the major potassium acetate products produced are XXX and XXX with purity over XXX%.

However, none of the producers has got the certification of GMP.

The production technology is simply mastered, and the overall capacity is superfluous, which leads to the low operating rate.

As a major raw material, XXX is not so sufficient in China, and high quality potassium hydroxide depends on import.

The price was climbing up in the first half year of 2008 and reached the peak in XXX, while it dropped fast in the second half, hit by the economic crisis.

In China, potassium acetate is mainly used to produce XXX and XXX. The demand from XXX has decreased, because of the bad economic situation. With the widened use of XXX in building industry, the demand from XXX is expected to rise in the next few years.
