Description:
As a fine chemical with wide application range, levulinic acid is mainly used in the fields of medicine, food, prinking ink, plastics, plasticiser, electronic products, flavor, etc, but most of the application industries haven’t be explored in China currently.
China has been producing levulinic acid for several years, but it has very few such producers at present. In order to provide a completed picture for levulinic acid in China, this report has described the overall production, raw materials, price, consumption, major end users and export of levulinic acid. Besides, the active manufacturers and end users are listed.
In this report, you can easily find out:
- the current production status of levulinic acid in China;
- what is the difference of LA export between H1 2008 and H2 2008, and what’s the influencing factor?
- who may be your competitors?
- who may be your potential business partners?
- who may be your potential clients?
- which countries consume levulinic acid ?

Levulinic acid is a fine chemical mainly used in the fields of medicine, food, prinking ink, plastics, plasticiser, electronic products, flavor, etc. As of February 2009, China’s total levulinic acid capacity has reached XXX t/a, with output of XXX tonnes in 2008. It means that levulinic acid operation rate was only about XXX in China. China currently has very few levulinic acid producers and most of them tend to adopt furfurylevulinic acidlcohol route.
In early 2008, levulinic acid price stood at around USDXXX/kg (RMBXXX/kg). With the impact of Beijing Olympic Games, price of most chemical raw materials rose rapidly. Accordingly, levulinic acid price soared to USDXXX/kg(RMBXXX/kg) in July 2008 and USDXXX/kg(RMBXXX/kg) in August 2008. Then after the Beijing Olympic Games, levulinic acid price began to drop with the declining raw material price. It stood at about USDXXX/kg (RMBXXX/kg) in January 2009.
In China, about one third of levulinic acid was exported to the overseas market every year. China's consumption volume of levulinic acid was about XXX tonnes in 2008, with about XXX self-consumed by the producers.
