Executive Summary

In China, there are XXX active producers and XXX idle producers in Feb.2009. XXX is the leading producer.

The operating rate is very low. Total capacity was XXXt/a, while the total output was only XXX tonnes in 2008, including XXX tonnes exported.

The technology applied in China is very simple and traditional.

The supply of raw materials including glacial acetic acid and liquid ammonia is sufficient and stable.

In the first half of 2008, the price of ammonium acetate kept increasing and reached the peak in August. But in the second half, the price dropped remarkably due to global financial crisis.

Most producers mainly produce XXX and XXX ammonium acetate with purity above XXX%, while RG ammonium acetate only captures a small share by output.

XXX and XXX are commonly used in chemical medicine production. Significantly, the pharmaceutical industry consumes more than XXX% of ammonium acetate produced in China. XXX ammonium acetate is mainly used in printing and dyeing industry, plating industry etc. RG is used in chemical analysis and pharmaceutical industry.

Though Chinese producers could supply high-grade ammonium acetate used in special applications, the demand is very small.
