Description:
Chinese pentaerythritol industry has witnessed rapid development in the last few years. The product structure has changed significantly since 2003, also antidumping fairs in 2005 and environmental concerns in 2006 all did favor to the industry insiders. With these events, it is definitely worth noting of the development of pentaerythritol industry in past and future. Before 2008, most pentaerythritol installations were almost overloaded in China because of the rapidly growing demand from domestic and oversea markets. However, the situation has changed greatly since the second half of 2008, and the operating rate declined sharply to only below 70%, as China’s pentaerythritol price fell sharply caused by the price fall of major raw materials due to the financial crisis.
The first issue concerned in this report is the production status. Do the leaders of pentaerythritol industry intend to expand capacity? Do they further adjust the product structure? Are there any new comers? Shall the pentaerythritol industry keep developing fast in China in the future? What is the price trend in the future? All of these information has been covered in this report as well as the manufacturers geographical distributions, SWOT analysis of top manufacturers etc.
As for the sales and marketing, including import and export analysis of this industry, great attention has been paid to figure out the penta situation of China as a net exporter. Therefore, this report focuses on the consumption patterns and driving forces in domestic market. How is the current status of alkyd resins as the largest application field? What is the tendency in the rapid-growing polyurethane industry? Also, factors influencing pentaerythritol price change have also been discussed.
What's more, CCM makes great efforts to the forecast on Chinese pentaerythritol industry in next five years, which could be the most valuable guideline for your investment.

(Note: The following summary is based on the situation in 2009 and maybe different to what it is nowadays. Please be noted.)
As of May 2009, the total capacity of pentaerythritol is XXXX in China, and the actual output was XXXX tonnes in 2008, increasing by XXXX over 2007. Some main manufacturers, such as Hubei Yihua and Liyang Ruiyang, kept their expansion in 2008, and some new penta producers such as Shandong Golden Yimeng and Anhui Jinhe emerged last year. However, with the penta industry significantly affected by the global financial crisis, the operating rate of Chinese penta producers kept low in the second half of 2008.
The quality of Chinese penta has improved significantly, and the product structure adjustment will continue, and the middle grade and high grade monopenta will dominate and dipenta production will increase dramatically in the near future. This product structure is better to accord with the increasing market demand and export.
In 2008, the total import volume of pentaerythritol was XXXX tonnes in China, slightly decreasing with the growth rate of about XXXX over 2007. The total export volume of pentaerythritol was XXXX in China, maintaining a relatively high growth rate of about XXXX over that in 2007.
The price of pentaerythritol kept stable in the first half of 2008, but it sharply has decreased since the financial crisis broke out in Aug. 2008. The decreasing demand from downstream industries and the falling price of raw material, especially the price decline of methanol, greatly brought down pentaerythritol price. Currently the price has risen a little, but is still much lower than that in 2007and early 2008.
The majority of pentaerythritol in China is consumed to synthesize alkyd resin, but other consumption fields such as polyurethane and rosin resins are also developing. In these two fields, pentaerythritol with higher quality is required, which is good news for the local penta industry as the main manufacturers are expanding in high quality penta production.
In 2008, the development of penta consumption in all the application fields has slowered down, mainly due to the impacts of global financial crisis. The total consumption of penta was XXXX tonnes in 2008, increasing by only XXXX over 2007.
