Description:
Thanks to increasing demand from domestic market and great demand from overseas, Chinese pinene industry developed fast in the past few years. However, greatly impacted by weather disasters, infestations, planting of fast-growing trees, etc. in the past two years, the outputs of gum rosin and gum turpentine have dropped. CCM will figure out whether the decreased gum turpentine will have negative impact on the production of pinene. Besides, the performance of pinene production in 2009 and in the next 5~10 years will be presented in this report.
Nowadays, domestic pinene consumption keeps increasing and the degree of dependence on foreign trade has decreased. In this report, the export situation of pinene (α-pinene and β-pinene) in 2009 and destinations and exporters in 2009 which is different from those before 2005 will be analyzed.
In China, α-pinene is mainly applied in synthetic camphor, synthetic borneol, and all kinds of synthetic perfume. β-pinene is mainly applied to synthesized flavors and polymerized terpene resin. In this report, you will find market shares of these two kinds of pinene in 2009 as well as their difference from those in 2006.
Besides the points above, CCM will also provide you an insightful analysis on the following aspects:
- Prices of α-pinene and β-pinene in the past and currently
- Supply situation of all pinene producers
- Introduction to major derivatives of α-pinene
- Introduction to major derivatives of β-pinene
- Raw material supply for α-pinene and β-pinene
- Key influencing factors for the development of α-pinene and β-pinene industry in China
- Forecast on production, export and consumption of α-pinene and β-pinene in next 5-10 years in China
- Detailed introduction to all active and stopped pinene producers in China

As the main component of turpentine, alpha-pinene (α-pinene) and beta-pinene (β-pinene) are also important derivatives of turpentine. And both of them are separated from turpentine.
Driven by increasing demand from downstream industries, the output of pinene kept an uptrend in the past years. As of June 2010, the capacity of α-pinene and β-pinene amounted to xxx t/a and xxx t/a, respectively, with output of totally xxx tonnes and xxx tonnes in 2009 respectively.
According to various sources as of 9th June 2010, there are xx active pinene producers, in terms of commercial production. Among them, xx producers also produce gum rosin and gum turpentine and xx producers are the downstream enterprises of gum turpentine, which purchase gum turpentine outside to produce pinene.
The price of alpha/beta-pinene fluctuated with the price change of gum turpentine in the past years. With the continuous growth of gum turpentine price, the prices of α-pinene and β-pinene have also increased to the historical high level in the first half of 2010. Generally speaking, the price of β-pinene is higher than that of α-pinene.
In 2009, the export volume of pinene was xxx tonnes, up xx% than that in previous year. With the development of myrcene in China, the export volume of β-pinene has dropped a little in the past two years, with only about xxx tonnes, while the export volume of α-pinene is still large.
As the main component of gum turpentine, pinene is applied in the same fields as gum turpentine. Α-pinene is mainly applied in synthetic camphor, synthetic borneol, and all kinds of synthetic perfume, with apparent consumption volume of xxx tonnes in 2009. And β-pinene is mainly applied to synthesize flavors and polymerized terpene resin, with apparent consumption volume of xxx tonnes in 2009.
