Description:
Impacted by overcapacity and the global financial crisis in Q4 2008, Chinese xylose production has decreased during 2007~ 2009. Many small manufacturers suspended or even stopped production due to declining profit and increasingly high environmental protection requirements. Some large manufacturers were also influenced since their judgment on xylose market trend was wrong: overoptimistic about China’s xylose market. The outbreak of global financial crisis in Q4 2008 is a great challenge to Chinese xylose industry.
What’s the trend for Chinese xylose industry development in the future? And what are the opportunities? This report will provide answers to you.
In order to stimulate the gloomy xylose market, Chinese government issued a new GB standard in Nov. 2009. What’s influence will be generated by this new standard on Chinese xylose industry?
Based on the above-mentioned changes and problems, CCM has updated the xylose report compiled in 2007.
In the 2010 edition, the following aspects are included:
- Detailed description and SMART analysis on China’s xylose industry.
- Clear picture of competition landscape within this industry.
- Consumption and market value of xylose from 2007 to 2009.
- Production cost analysis of major manufacturers.
- Forecast on China’s xylose industry by different scenarios.
- Future commercial opportunities for new investors.

Ø Production Situation
Currently, China is the biggest xylose production countries in the world with total capacity and output of XXXt/a and XXX tonnes respectively in 2009. Xylose production in China in 2009 was not so active as that in 2007 and 2008, due to oversupply and global financial crisis. The output decreased from XXX tonnes in 2007 to XXX tonnes in 2009, with CAGR of -8.73%.
By January 2010, there are XXX active xylose manufacturers in China. Three enterprises,Shandong Weilong Group Co., Ltd., Shanxi Xiyang Xylose Co., Ltd. and Henan Tangyin Rongxin Co., Ltd. have stopped their xylose production since 2009.
Ø Corn Cob
The planting area of corn in 2009 was XXX million hectares, and corn output went to XXX million tonnes. The rate between corn and corncob is about XXX:XXX. That is to say, when XXX million corns are harvested, XXX million corn cobs can be gained. The output of corn cob was XXX million tonnes in 2009
……
Furfural and xylose are two largest consumption fields of corn cobs. In 2009, XXX million tonnes corn cobs were used to produce furfural, and xylose is the second largest field, consuming XXX million tonnes corn cob in China.
Ø Import & Export
China’s import volume of xylose in recent 5 years has been small. In 2001, no xylose was imported by China and the largest import was in 2004, but only XXX tonnes, then reduced after reaching the peak, and returned to zero in 2006.
Export volume of xylose in China from 2007 to 2009 decreased due to global xylitol demand decrease, especially impacted by global financial crisis in Q4 2008. Japan, South Korea, and Canada were the top three export destinations of Chinese xylose in 2009. Export price of xylose reached the peak in 2007, averaging USDXXX/kg, and then it dropped to USDXXX/kg in 2009.
Ø Consumption Situation
In 2009, Chinese xylose output is mainly used in xylitol production, since xylitol price is high, or for export, and a small part of xylose is consumed directly in food and chemical industry.
