Description:
China's sucralose industry has witnessed fast development in the past few years and has played an increasingly important role in global sucralose supply. However, after rapid expansion, the country’s sucralose capacity has been surplus with limited domestic demand, thus the majority of Chinese sucralose output has to be exported, leading to this industry's heavy reliance on overseas market. Facing current overcapacity and high export dependence, how will Chinese manufacturers adjust their strategies to cope with the intense competition?
Compared with some popular high-sweetness sweeteners, sucralose is still featured by small production scale and limited domestic application. But it enjoys promising market potential in China mainly attributed to its safety for human consumption and high sweetness. What are the potential commercial opportunities in China's sucralose industry?
The entry and expansion of Chinese sucralose in the global market has gradually broken up Tate & Lyle's monopoly to this product, thus leading to the price fall of sucralose in the past two to three years. Facing Tate & Lyle's patent protection strategy, what measures have been adopted by Chinese manufacturers to continue production and expand export business?
This report, based on CCM International's research experiences in Chinese sucralose industry, penetrates into sucralose industry to figure out its key characteristics and future trends in terms of production, technology development, consumption, trade situation, SWOT analysis of key players and forecast on future development trends, etc.
Through explorations in above key aspects, you can find the answers to the following questions:
- What is production situation of China's sucralose in the past few years and in 2009?
- Who are the major manufacturers and exporters of sucralose?
- What are the price trends of China's sucralose?
- What's the export situation of sucralose?
- What are the commercial opportunities in China's sucralose industry?
- What are the key factors influencing the development of sucralose industry?
- What is SWOT analysis of China’s sucralose industry and top players?
- What are the development trends of sucralose in the following five years, breakdown by output and demand?
- Etc.

China has been witnessing rapid sucralose production expansion, since the first producer, Guangdong Food Industry Institute launched sucralose production in 2002, especially in recent five years. Now the country has become one of the major sucralose manufacturing countries in the world. Given its limited domestic demand, the majority of Chinese sucralose capacity has to be exported, suggesting this industry's heavy reliance on overseas market.
The entry and expansion of Chinese sucralose in the global market has gradually broken up Tate & Lyle's monopoly to this product, thus leading to the price fall of sucralose in the past two to three years. Besides, with gradually maturing technology, China's sucralose output and export will continue to increase in the coming years. However, as the entry of Chinese players is later than the sucralose giant, Tate & Lyle, Chinese manufacturers will still face many barriers in their overseas market expansion, especially the strong competition of Tate & Lyle.
- Production
In the past few years, the number of sucralose manufacturers has maintained at about 20, with some manufacturers having stopped production, and some new players having emerged. With 19 major producers in 2008, China's sucralose capacity reaches XXt/a and as of Aug. 2009, still XX active producers, but China’s total capacity has expanded to XXt/a, but still much smaller than that of Tate & Lyle.
At present, Changzhou Niutang Chemical Plant Co., Ltd. is the largest manufacturer in China, with its capacity having been enlarged to XXt/a in early 2009, accounting for XX% of China’s total. However, it is JK Sucralose Inc. that has the largest output in 2008, constituting XX% of China's output.
- Import and export
China's sucralose import has been quite small in the past few years, and most end users use domestic product, with only a few using imported sucralose.
China, an important sucralose exporter in the world, has witness spectacular sucralose export growth in recent years, with CAGR of XX% from 2005 to 2008. In 2008, China’s export volume reached XXkg, accounting for XX% of China's total output. Most of Chinese sucralose is exported to North America, Asia, Europe, etc.
- Consumption
In China, sucralose consumption volume is limited, only XX tonnes in 2008. Sucralose in China is usually consumed in industries of food, beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, etc., with food and beverage as the major consumption fields, accounting for XX% of the total.
- Forecast
Forecast on China’s sucraslose is made based on the following macro factors and micro factors, influencing the product, such as GDP growth and economic situation, government policies, sucralose's end uses, its competitors, intrinsic factors as well as technology development, etc.
Driven by increasing demand both from domestic and overseas markets, China's sucralose output will increase in the coming years.
