Description:

With promising glyphosate market, demand for IDAN, a major glyphosate raw material, increased sharply in 2008, so did its price. Attracted by fat profit and huge demand, many IDAN producers rush to expand capacity and some companies newly build IDAN projects. Many new IDAN facilities initiated construction in 2008. If all the new facilities are launched in late 2009, how will they affect IDAN, even glyphosate supply & demand? What current producers should keep eyes at?

Glyphosate market witnessed depression, due to the serious oversupply and global financial crisis. What should IDAN newcomers do to alleviate the loss? You will find the answers in the report.

Besides, we also focus on:
How about current technological progress?
What are the influencing factors of IDAN pricing?
How is the development trend for IDAN and glyphosate in the future?
What are the strength and weakness of current producers and newcomers?

Executive Summary

It is estimated that China is the only IDAN production country at present, as the only overseas producer, Monsanto, has stopped production in 2006.

IDAN produced in China is all consumed in domestic market. IDAN highly depends on glyphosate industry since it has no other application at present. It faces intense competition from DEA, another raw material for glyphosate. Therefore, IDAN price will be affected by DEA price.

IDAN glyphosate became promising in 2007 and grew quickly since then, driven by large demand and fat profit. As of late 2008, its capacity and output have taken up about XXXX of the glyphosate total. As IDAN glyphosate has advantages of low production cost and less pollutants, share of IDAN glyphosate will further increase in the future, estimated to XXXX in 2014.

China has XXXX active IDAN producers with total capacity of XXXX at present. They are Chongqing Unisplendour, SCANG, Hebei Chengxin and Shandong Xintai.

IDAN supply slightly exceeds its demand at present. Chongqing Unisplendour is the largest producer, constituting about XXXX of the market share. In order to keep its position, Chongqing Unisplendour is enlarging its IDAN capacity. Besides, many new IDAN facilities are under construction and the overall capacity may reach XXXX by the end of 2009 all the constructed facilities launched. By then, IDAN oversupply will be further aggravated.

China has three routes for IDAN production, namely natural gas route, HCN (from acrylonitrile production) route and light oil cracking way. Natural gas route dominates in China, while the other two routes are adopted by few producers.

The production location of IDAN is limited by natural gas distribution. At present, IDAN production bases mainly concentrate in Sichuan and Chongqing. With rapid growth of chemical industry, natural gas supply gap has become large and large in Sichuan & Chongqing and IDAN expansion tends to transfer to other natural gas origins such as Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang in the future.

IDAN price is mainly affected by its supply & demand situation, DEA price and its production cost. Owing to short supply, IDAN price soared in June 2007~May 2008, increasing to XXXX from XXXX, up XXXX. Currently, IDAN price has reduced due to the shrinking demand of glyphosate and kept stable at XXXX.
