Description:
Nicosulfuron, which is developed by Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha, Ltd., is a post-emergence herbicide used in corn fields, with the merits of high efficiency, low residue and environmental friendliness.
After the patent protection validity of nicosulfuron in China expired in January 2007, too many domestic manufactures, stimulated by the fat profit and good weeding effect of nicosulfuron in corn field, registered and entered into nicosulfuron production, which makes very serious to the overcapacity and price plunge of nicosulfuron.
In 2009, with the capacity of 3,450t/a, the total output was only 800 tonnes and the operation rate was only 23.19%.
The overseas market still needs to be developed. Only 180.93 tonnes nicosulfuron was exported in 2009, with only 22.62% of total output. The domestic consumption was 609.00 tonnes in 2009.
The objective of this research is to present an in-depth and comprehensive view on Chinese nicosulfuron market. CCM’s goal is to determine the current status of nicosulfuron industry and assess its growth potential from 2010 to 2014.

"After the validity of nicosulfuron patent protection in China expired in January 2007, too many domestic manufactures, stimulated by the high profit and good weeding effect of nicosulfuron in corn field, registered and entered into nicosulfuron production, which makes very serious overcapacity and price plunge.
It is no doubt that the high capacity and low production cost of nicosulfuron will affect the market conditions of global nicosulfuron.
Nicosulfuron industry has the following characteristics:
- Illegal production before patent expiration. Some manufacturers illegally produced nicosulfuron technical before patent expiration.
- Output soaring. The output is soaring year by year, especially after patent expiration. The output in 2009 is XX times of that in 2007 with CAGR of XX% in 2007~2009.
- Overcapacity. Chinese nicosulfuron technical is confronted with serious overcapacity now. The capacity in 2010 is XXt/a which is XX times of the output of XX tonnes in 2009. Stimulated by the good weed control effect and patent expiration, Chinese producers began to establish or enlarge nicosulfuron technical capacity blindly. From XX, the technology of nicosulfuron technical is mature and technicians’ job-hopping supplies support on establishing new production lines.
- Severe price competition. The price competition will become more apparent and intense next year,
- Low operation ratio. The operation ratio is very low at present. None of domestic nicosulfuron production lines are running at full capacity in 2009. Generally speaking, each nicosulfuron technical producers only produce nicosulfuron half of a year. At other times, they use the production lines to produce other products to reduce the equipment depreciation.
- High concentration. The top 3 nicosulfuron technical manufacturers captured over half of the market share. The top 5 nicosulfuron technical manufacturers captured over XX% of the market share. XXXX is the leader of producing nicosulfuron that captures above a quarter of the market share.
- Key technical manufacturers are also key formulation manufacturers. Just like other pesticides, nicosulfuron technical manufacturers are also key formulation manufacturers.
The total domestic consumption of nicosulfuron was XX tonnes in 2009. Northeast China and North China are the main consumption areas. The export volume was XX tonnes in 2009 and XX% nicosulfuron was exported by nicosulfuron manufacturers themselves. "
