Executive Summary

As for Jan. 2009, there are xx are active producers of methidathion technical in China, with the total capacity xxxxt/a. The output of methidathion technical in 2008 was estimated to be xxxx tonnes.

At present, the major methidathion formulation is 40%EC. In order to reduce the price of Methidathion formulation, some other mixed formulations, such as 20% buprofezin•methidathion EC, 40% engine oil•methidathion EC and 40% malathion•methidathion EC, have been developed, with 40% methidathion EC and 20% buprofezin•methidathion EC taking up most of the market share.

As of January 2009, there were xx companies registered methidathion technical production in China, including xx domestic enterprises, with xx in Zhejiang, xx in Jiangsu, xx in Shandong and xx in Hubei.

The total export volume of methidathion was xxxx tonnes (including xxxx tonnes of technical and xxxx tonnes of formulation) in Jan.-Oct. 2008. Methidathion technical is mainly exported to Israel, Turkey and S. Africa, and formulation is mainly exported to S. Africa and Turkey.

Methidathion is mainly used in citrus in China. The Methidathion used in citrus has reached xxxx tonnes (calculated by 95% technical) in 2008, accounting for xx% of China’s total.
